In this series of monoprints, seven woodblocks based on the geometric tiles from the chinese puzzle-game, Tangram, compose abstract and figurative pictographs.
The objective of Tangram is to reproduce a silhouetted pictograph using all of the shapes. Similarly, in this series, a participant rearranges the woodblocks and the configuration is hand-printed. Some of the pictographs in the series are invented by the participant while others belong to the library of Tangram.
The prints are housed in a wooden box and the seven geometric shapes are inlaid into the lid. The blocks are removeable and production can be repeated.
